Critique Groups for IWG MEMBERS

Critique groups offer an opportunity for small groups to get together and give each other regular feedback on writing, to develop writing skills, and to enhance motivation to write consistently.

IWG member, Marilou Blair, has volunteered to help IWG members organize critique groups. If you would like to be in a group, contact Marilou at mariloublair [at] yahoo.com (substitute @ for [at] in your email).

The critique group works on a drop in basis by meeting once a month on the last Saturday of the month, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at:

Maui Wowi Coffee House
520 E. Franklin Road
(corner of E 5th Ave, between Locust Grove & Main)
Meridian, ID
Phone: (208) 869-9966

The meeting will take place in the Garden conference room. It has seating for 11, with extra chairs available if necessary. If possible, email Marilou to let her know you'll be attending so she'll have an idea of the size of the room and number of chairs needed.

Depending on interests of the attendees, ‘active writing’ from prompts, work on developing critique skills, and reading from your work are all possible activities. If necessary, you will break into smaller groups so that more people are ‘heard’. This will help beginning writers to find their ‘voice’ and all writers to ‘write in community’. There may be anywhere from 2 to 15 people depending on who shows up.

Contact Marilou to check on meeting times and dates.

Together - we all become better!
